DBF excerpt 1The next morning, the animals were the first to wake. Once they began to stir, their owners woke and attempted to finish unpacking. It did not take long for all of the new roommates to take the back stairs that led into the normal kitchen. No one spoke as they scrounged around for something to eat.   
"I past by this place in town," Brandon said. "We could head there for breakfast."   
"I don't dine with attempted murderers," Reynaldo said, pertaining to Sara.   
"If I wanted to kill you, you would not be standing here now, that I assure you."

MourningThe war was over and hundreds were dead. One lone figure still sat on the battlefield next to a Black Dragon carcass. Everyone knew who it was, no one had the courage to comfort the crying one. There was little they could do in any case. The death of a familiar was a hard thing to take for any master or dear friend. Night turned into day, and the beginning of the burials began.
